Darren Farugia (Gisbourne) This guy is a silky skilled running player for the Powerful Dogs and is a regular amongst the multiple goal kickers and has the ability to attract league medal votes. Consider the Dogs Premiership star for your Local Footy expert team.

Jason Griffin (Golden Square)- He is another of those players capable of winning a swag of the ball through the midfield and floating forward to kick a goal. A best & fairest winner with the Dogs and a Premiership star with Central Murray Club Kerang Griffin is never far from the limelight.

Matt Gretrix (Eaglehawk) A key forward for the reigning Premiers who is capable of taking the big mark and producing a bag of goals. Sure to be a good point scorer for those who select the boy from Charlton.

Dayne Frew (South Bendigo) Former Bendigo Bombers listed player who given a postive run with injury should make his mark on the competition in 2008. Strong and skillful Frew produced 16 goals in one match against Kangaroo Flat in season 2006. Some good bags of goals along with a handful of Michelsen Medal votes will make  the talented left footer a handy inclusion.

Kain Robins (Eaglehawk) Past Michelsen Medallist one of the stars of the competition with his running game and powerful penetrating kicking across the ground. He is a standout to umpires and can feature amongst the goal kickers on a regular basis making him a good point a good acqusition for any LOCAL FOOTY EXPERT COMPETITION.

Shane Davis ( Gisbourne) Known to many around the competition as ‘Dog’ this 4 time Premiership player and VCFL representative is a genius around goal and a chance to land league votes reguarly rotating through the midfield. Looks to be leaner and meaner coming into season 2008 and could be a good man to have on your books for this competition.

Nick Carter (Golden Square) Fomer Bendigo Bombers Captain who many believe will be a super star of the 2008 BFL upon his return home to Wade St. Will start amongst the favourites for the Michelsen Medal and is expected to spend time close to goal so there could be plenty of Carter fans in persuit of winning the $500 smackers.

Rowan Warfe (Kangaroo Flat) The former Fitzroy and Sydney defender has joined the Flat as Assistant  Coach to Darryl Wilson and he is somewhat of an unknown in terms of what he can produce following a four year break from the game. Has enjoyed a strong Pre-Season and is likely to be played in a vareity of roles as the Roos search for a resurgence in the competition. Worth strong consideration for our Local Footy Experts as his football CV reads nicely.

Aaron Connaughton (South Bendigo)- Set to be one the recruits of the season returning to his home club of South Bendigo after a successful season with the Bendigo Bombers at VFL Level. Set to be used between the midfield and attack and is sure to noticed with neat skills and evasive play. If there was a market for the Michelsen Market listed now he would be firmly enlisted in the top fancys. Hard man to leave out of any Local Footy Expert team.

HEATHCOTE DISTRICT FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Andy Grant- (Elmore) Enters the 2008 season fresh from the dream 2007 in addition to leading his club to a drought breaking Premiership he also had the honour of winning the Sam Cheatley Medal. Sure to be worth lots of points in this competition.

Sam Hill (Colbinabbin) Has enjoyed two great seasons around goal with his work rate and running capacity setting up numerous shots on goal match after match. At just 22 years of age you would suggest he is yet to play his best football and with his booming left foot couipled with the returement of full forward Danny Irwin their is a realistic chance that he will become a century goal kicker this season.

Ben McLeary (Mt.Pleasant) Recruited to Tooleen from Oyyen McLeary has improved with each season and quickly earnt himself a reputation as a rugged rover with the goal kicking ability. A Premiership member of the 2005 & 2006 teams McLeary resisted attempts from BFL club to gain his services and will again be a vital cog to the Mounts midfield. With another finals campaign beconing for the traditional powerhouse McLeary should be a steady point scorer throughout the season.

Tom Tobin (Heathcote) Eye catching player with the potential to fly over the pack and take the big mark. Valuable player rotating between attack in the midfield and with the Saints set for a big season Tobin should score goals and league medal votes ensuring he is a healthy goal scorer.

Cameron Carter (Mt.Pleasant) Dual Mt.Pleasant Premiership Coach and star midfielder who finished Runner-Up in last years Sam Cheatley Medal. Has a hugh motor and covers the ground better than any player in the competition. Regular goal scorer who would be a hard man to leave out of this competition.

Powerful player with booming kick who is never far from the action between his rucking and key forward duties. Can kick a big bag of goals as he has done on many occasions throughout his career and should be a great investment for this compeition with a strong chance for a good haul of Sam Cheatley Votes.

Chris Long (Huntly) Youngster who had an impressive debut season with the Hawks swapping between attack and rucking duties. Athletic with great marking power Long was a regular goal kicker and with a more competitive list around him could be one of the stars of 2008. If your looking for a regular point scorer that not many others have on their books he could be your man.

Nick Knight (Colbinabbin) Joins the Grasshoppers as Brent Millars Assistant Coach and is set to be a key midfielder for the 2007 Grand Finalists. A well balanced player with sure hands and neat kicking skills Knight has the potential to be a Sam Cheatley medal vote catcher and regular goal kicker.

Sam Newth (LBU) Veteran Cats player who is a noted wizard around the sticks and classy ball user around the ground. Will be keen for a big 2008 season as he and many of his Cats team mates chase their first Senior Premiership.

John Taylor ( Broadford) Won the league Goal kicking award last season with some big bags for the Roos as they made their first finals series since 2004. Is set to be the focal point of the Roos attack again and if he can produce 60 to 70 goals and gain 6 to 8 Sam Cheatley Votes he becomes a super selection for any Local Expert Competition Team.

LODDON VALLEY-

Kurt Ashman (Bridgewater) The Mean Machine Coach is a dynamo around goal and with the additional through the midfield for ‘Bridgey’ in 2008 Ashman should again be well placed to kick 8o + goals. A big tally of goals matched with a handful of league medal votes will make Ashman a valuable addition to any Local Expert Team.

Ross Maxted (Calivil) Many would agree that the former Premiership Coach would be the Premier midfielder in the LVFL competition. With polished skills and great running power Maxted is always under notice from the umpires and would be one of the fancies for the LV’s top award this season. Ross Maxted = many local expert points.

Sam Mildren(Newbridge)- A super talent with athleticism and youth on his side Mildren is set to be one of the stars of the 2008 LV Season. Indicative of his ability he piled on 6 quick goals for the Maroons when they were under siege in the 2007 Preliminary Final against Mitiamo . Likely to play Centre Half Forward and be a regular goal kicker and steady vote gather at league level worth strong consideration for your expert team.

Ryan Haythorpe (Mitiamo) 2004 Sandhurst Premiership player who crashed onto the Loddon Valley scene last season after time playing in Melbourne. Strong with pace on the lead Haythorpe has the potential to be a century goal kicker in the Loddon Valley this season especially with the calibre of recruits the Super Roos have gained to feed the talented forward. Haythorpe will be worth plenty with his goal kicking exploits alone and if he gains league medal votes  they will all be a bonus.

Brad Comer (Newbridge) A 2004 Premiership player with Sandhurst in the Bendigo League Comer is a star of the LV competition with his strong attack on the football ability to win the football in close quarters and tidy disposal. Set to  start a favourite in the Harding Medal  Comer will be a key to the Maroons Premiership campaign.
