CENTRAL VIC FOOTY SPENDS A MINUTE WITH HDFL INTERLEAGUE COACH DARRYL WILSON* What was your motivation to take the role?Well most would know I didn’t have a senior gig after decided not to relocate and was going to just observe a few games, HDFL rang and had a meeting made a few calls to some players and coaches and I could see that
there was a passion to play a interleague game given its now part of the
VCFL championship structure. The decision to accept the position was easy
after these discussions and I believe in the quality of the football in
HDFL competition will allow for those who do represent the league to  make
a good account of themselves.

* What type of approach you will take in forming the Squad and selecting the team?

The formation of the squad will be driven by the input of all the coaches
along with a representative from each of the HDFL clubs. I am keen to have
significant input from those who work with the players week in week out,
given i have not seen many games over the last year. This will also allow
for only those players who are keen to play , to be selected to represent
foe the league. Leitchville / Gunbower add another dimension given
no one
has seen much of the playing list, and its great we have additional players
to pick from giving the League more depth.

Hows your knowledge of the Geelong Football League?

My information so far is that it is a strong league and that there are a
number of very good players who have moved from the Geelong League. Andy
Grant has an insight into some players, whom he played alongside in the
VCFL team.
The intentions to appoint an opposition coach who will get to a
number of the Geelong District games and report back the key players. The
GDFL draw also allows for our coaching team to attend some games as well as
they have a number of Friday night games being held. Player wise I see
Peter Riccardi ex AFL plays now at North Geelong and we might be able to get
some inside info from Kiel Robertson  ex Eaglehawk / Kerang who looks to
have transferred  to the league.

ALL THE BEST DARRYL IT SOUNDS LIKE EXCITING TIMES FOR THE HDFL.
