Despite a large turnover of players the White Hills Demons believe they will hit the ground running in Season 2010. CVF caught up with Coach Brent Dyer this week……

 

 

White Hills New Coach Brent Dyer is confident he has the Demons on track for a surge up the HDFL ladder in Season 2010.

Dyer a veteran in Country Coaching circles who led Newbridge to the 2000 LVFL Premiership at the peak of his powers said the Pre-Season to date had been productive ‘’ It’s been good we’ve been putting some hard work into the boys and re-structuring some things, and the boys seem  to be responding and enjoying the training which is good’’.

The Demons have had mixed attendances at their sessions thus far although Dyer noted there had been some strong performances throughout the Pre-Season by a host of players ‘’ We’ve had some guys doing big Pre-Seasons which is great, Matty Sawyer is having a real crack, Reece Frawley has been good, Jackson Brown is another while Dean Bowles and Ben Toy deserve a mention too it’s hard to signal guys out’’.

Key recruits in 2009 Tocumwal Premiership player Nick Mellington and Golden Square’s Ash Bateman have also shown they will be great acquisitions with their talents on the track ‘’ Yeah Mellington is going be a really handy player for us a genuine Utility that could play in the Ruck on the wing anywhere really, while Ash will be used in our on ball rotations and be very handy’’.

Dyer has had his Assistant Coach Jason Stevens who is also in a Non Playing capacity hands on during preparations ‘’Yeah Jason has been deeply involved in trainings, and has been playing a major part in structuring our set plays and educating the players, so while I’m the senior Coach he will have a large say too’’.

The Demons have practice matches booked in against Newbridge on March 20^th at Newbridge, while the venue to play the Wedderburn Redbacks is still yet to be determined on Saturday, March 27^th.

Asked of the expectations of the Season Dyer was optimistic the Club could return to the finals for the first time since the Runner-Up Season of 2005 ‘’ We would love to be able to make the finals, we just need to be realistic as we go through the Season and try to steer the Club in a new direction to what we can achieve’’.

‘’ We’ve heard alot about other Clubs and that they have picked up this and that although we will just keep going about our business and see what we can do’’.

White Hills will lock horns with neighbours North Bendigo who promise to be another club striving hard to break a finals drought and Dyer admitted the Round 1 clash against the Bulldogs would be a big one ‘’ No doubt that game is going to be very important for us, it would be nice to get away to a good start and there the same as us having a real crack too so it will be a good game to see where things are at’’.
