Echuca’s recruiting spree continues as former Magpie hits town!

Echuca have added another cherry to the top of their brilliant recruiting spree over the summer months with the Murray Bombers confirming they have secured former Collingwood aboriginal speedster Chris Egan.
Egan played 27 matches at the elite level for the Pies and was considered a player of great promise although a knee injury in 2007 played a part in halting his development somewhat. At the end of the 2008 Season the versatile Egan who can excite around goal was delisted by the Pies and he spent 2009 with VFL Club Williamston.
It was a well pleased Echuca Coach Brett Henderson who told Central Vic Footy how they captured their latest star recruit ‘’ We have some contacts at Williamstown and we spoke to Chris back in October and at that stage he was committing to Williamstown for another year. ‘’
‘’Willy train 5 nights a week and Chris has a good job as an alcohol and drug rehabilitation officer and he just could’nt train for 5 nights as he has shift work. He rang me last week and said that he wanted to play for Echuca. As you could imagine its probably the best call I’ve received for a while especially as I’m a Collingwood supporter!!”.

Asked what role they propose to play Egan in who has ties to rival Club Shepparton Swans where he father Eric was a long time player Henderson said ‘’ We think Chris will be very versatile but very dangerous up forward. As we all know he has the talent to have an impact anywhere on the ground’’.

Central Vic Footy asked Henderson will return for his 2nd term in charge of the Murray Bombers after earlier Coaching the Club to an Under 18’s Premiership whether the signing will see the conclusion of the recruiting spree ‘’ We have almost completed the recruiting but I think we might have a couple of ex-Echuca players returning in the next week. We have been fortunate to obtain good players and terrific people and thats the most pleasing aspect’’.

Vale who is a Colbinabbin product has connections to the GVFL Tigers with his father Michael Auld was a Premiership Captain with Rochester back in the Season of 1992 and uncle Phil ‘Toot’ Morgan a Best & Fairest & League Medal winner with the Club.
