Bloods reserves well placed hit to back!

South Bendigo reserves will enter tomorrow’s reserves Grand Final as favourites despite losing the 2nd Semi Final a fortnight ago to the Gisborne Bulldogs by 26 points.
It was the Bloods only loss for the season where they struggled to match the intensity of the pumped up Bulldogs who tackled well throughout the contest. South Bendigo who possess a number of slick ball users also failed to move the ball with fluency in the windy conditions on that occasions producing just 5 goals for the match.
Their comprehensive victory over Kangaroo Flat in last Saturday’s twilight encounter lends on to think they can reverse the recent result and claim the 2009 BFL reserves Cup.
Brad Rhode who many consider unlucky to lose his position in the senior line up last weekend made an immediate impact with 5 goals 5 behinds in attack and he presents as a real trump card to work in tandem with Century goal kicker and Coach David McCormick.
Michael Tonkin across half forward is also a mobile target that can provide a real gateway for the Bloods to launch scoring opportunities from.
Justin Schubert and Deon Jones have been handy players for the Bloods at senior level in recent years and they are to set to be key players while Marc Lindsay. Jerome and Justin Williams are all players coming into the prime of their football careers and should also contribute strongly tomorrow.
For Gisborne Damien Slater despite being in the twilight of his career is a potential ball magnet through the midfield and he will be a key to the Dogs charge while Pat Fitzgerald, Heath Levis and Josh Di Camillo will also be super important.
These two teams have been dominant forces in the BFL reserves in recent years sharing the past 4 Premierships between them with two each. The Bulldogs outpointed them for endeavour in the second semi and one would think that shouldn’t be an issue for the Bloods in a season decider and with their more talented group of players should score the spoils.
South Bendigo to win by 19 points.
